Moronihah was a Nephite military leader who notably commanded a contingent of ten thousand soldiers during the cataclysmic battle at Cumorah around AD 385. This engagement was part of the last and decisive war between the Nephites and Lamanites, which culminated in the near annihilation of the Nephite nation. In the grim aftermath detailed in the records, it is noted that Moronihah, alongside other commanders, each at the head of ten thousand troops, perished in battle (Mormon 6:14). The battle of Cumorah marked the end of Nephite civilization as recorded by Mormon, who lamented the massive loss of life, including that of Moronihah and his forces. Moronihah’s death on the battlefield underscored the tragic demise of a once great people and brought to a close an era of Nephite history.
