Cumenihah was a Nephite military commander who played a crucial role during the final stages of the catastrophic war between the Nephites and Lamanites. He is mentioned in the Book of Mormon as one of the leaders who fell with his ten thousand soldiers in the last battle at Cumorah, which occurred around A.D. 385. The battle at Cumorah was a devastating event for the Nephites, as it led to the near-annihilation of their civilization. Cumenihah, together with other commanders like Lamah, Gilgal, Limhah, Jeneum, Moronihah, Antionum, Shiblom, Shem, and Josh, stood valiantly with their troops but ultimately perished, as the Nephite forces were overwhelmed by the Lamanites (Mormon 6:14). Despite the brevity of his mention in the historical record, Cumenihah’s leadership and sacrifice symbolize the tragic fate that befell the Nephite nation.
