Antionum was a Nephite military commander who distinguished himself during the concluding period of warfare between the Nephites and Lamanites. He is acknowledged singularly in the Book of Mormon for his role in the decisive battle at Cumorah around AD 385, where he met his end alongside his contingent of ten thousand soldiers. His death is noted alongside other leaders such as Lamah, Gilgal, Limhah, Jeneum, Cumenihah, Moronihah, Shiblom, Shem, and Josh, who similarly fell with their own divisions of ten thousand fighters each. This catastrophic loss signifies the severity of the conflict and marks a pivotal moment in Nephite history — the annihilation of their forces and the tragic culmination of their civilization. Antionum, though mentioned but briefly, remains memorialized as part of the tragic tableau of the Book of Mormon’s final and most devastating military encounter (Mormon 6:14).
