Jesus’ Establishment of His Law

And it came to pass that when Jesus had spoken these words unto Nephi, and to those who had been called, …

…and behold, he stretched forth his hand unto the multitude, and cried unto them, saying:

• Listen to the twelve
• Blessed are the believers
• The beatitudes
• The salt of the earth
• A city on a hill
• Fulfilling the law
• The higher law: anger
• The higher law: forgiveness
• Justice
• The higher law: virtue
• Divorce
• Oaths and swearing
• Turn the other cheek
• Love your neighbor
• Old things are done away
• Private alms
• Secret prayer
• The Lord’s prayer
• Forgiveness
• Fasting
• Treasures in heaven
• Light and darkness
• Two masters

And now it came to pass that when Jesus had spoken these words he looked upon the twelve whom he had chosen, and said unto them:

• Trust in God’s care
• Consider the lilies
• Take no thought for the morrow

And now it came to pass that when Jesus had spoken these words he turned again to the multitude, and did open his mouth unto them again, saying:

• Judge not
• Pearls before swine
• Seek and ye shall find
• Golden rule
• The strait gate
• Avoid false prophets
• Do the will of the Father
• Wise man building on the rock

And now it came to pass that when Jesus had ended these sayings he cast his eyes round about on the multitude, and said unto them:

“Behold, ye have heard the things which I taught before I ascended to my Father; therefore, whoso remembereth these sayings of mine and doeth them, him will I raise up at the last day.”

And it came to pass that when Jesus had said these words he perceived that there were some among them who marveled, and wondered what he would concerning the law of Moses; for they understood not the saying that old things had passed away, and that all things had become new. And he said unto them:

• Law of Moses fulfilled
• Not destroying the prophets
• Christ is the law and light

And now it came to pass that when Jesus had spoken these words, he said unto those twelve whom he had chosen:

• Inheritance of disciples
• Other sheep
• One fold and one shepherd
• Misunderstandings
• Other “other sheep”
• Keep a record
• The fulness of the gospel among the latter-day Gentiles
• Latter-day Gentile rejection of the fulness
• Isaiah’s words fulfilled
