At this time, Mormon was about seventy-four years old (ca..D. 311–385). He had been “about ten years of age” when Ammaron hid up the plates in the hill Shim and gave the young Mormon charge over them, ca..D. 321 (see 4 Nephi 1:48; Mormon 1:2–4). It was about A.D. 385 when Mormon concealed the plates in the hill Cumorah and gave charge of them to his son Moroni.
