There are always those who are quick to seek alternate explanations of incidents rather than accept the evident truth. It is ironic in this situation that the people made God responsible in their justification of what had happened (v. 8). In spite of the five men being innocently cast into prison, it did give them and opportunity to tell the truth to the multitude. God’s hand was certainly involved, but not in the way the people thought.
