“Because of Their Iniquity… They Began to Disbelieve in the Spirit of Prophecy and in the Spirit of Revelation”
Some people rationalize their apostasy and their life of sin by saying that they do not believe in prophecy and revelation. It is significant to note from this verse that iniquity led the people to deny the spiritual workings of the Lord, not the other way around. Wickedness destroys faith in the Lord and brings a loss of spiritual knowledge and a denial of such things as prophecy and revelation.
