God does not and cannot vary from his straight course; he never deviates to the right or to the left. His path or his course is always the same, “one eternal round” (see also 1 Nephi 10:19; Alma 37:12; D&C 3:2). In other words, God is firm, steadfast, and immovable; he is constant and totally dependable (see commentary at Jacob 3:1–2).
Only clean, kind, and loving souls can live in the presence of God; no one who is filthy can be “received into the kingdom of God.” “No unclean thing can dwell with God; wherefore, ye must be cast off forever” (1 Nephi 10:21). At the last day, anyone “who is filthy shall remain in his filthiness”; Alma later taught this concept as the “plan of restoration” (Alma 41:2) or the law of the harvest (Alma 41).
