“O Lord, Have Mercy and Spare My Life”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
These are not the soul cries of one terrified by the possibility of imminent death. Rather, they are the petition of a righteous man, the pleading of one who is on speaking terms with God. Alma’s confidence is in his Lord. His life is in order and his prayer is a prayer of faith. His desires are neither selfish nor out of harmony with the divine will.
