If, according to the text, the Lamanites and Amlicites attacked the Nephites "as they were crossing the river Sidon" (Alma 2:27), then the implication is that the Lamanites could not only view the advancing armies, but that there might have been some main crossing point(s). Alma 2:34 apparently says that the Lamanites and the Amlicites were now on the west side of the river. It is not clear whether they crossed over from a land of Minon on the east side of the river (option 1), or whether they just came downstream from a land of Minon on the west side of the river (option 2).
