The gathering is a central part of the Lord’s design to establish His kingdom once more upon the earth, never again to be diminished or removed. The gathering is accomplished according to leadership principles defined and confirmed from before the foundation of the earth.
Even though the purpose of Zenos’ narrative may not have been to teach leadership principles per se, we can see from the masterful leadership of the Lord of the vineyard specific ways whereby we can improve and advance in our own roles as stewards of the gathering—whether in the family, in the branches, wards, and stakes of the Church, or in missionary endeavors. Each of the questions in the following checklist reflects a leadership principle embodied in the narrative of the allegory. You might wish to score yourself and then go back through Jacob 5 to determine how the Lord acted in order to maximize the harvest. What better leadership model is there than the Lord Himself?
