What is wrong with saying the Bible is complete?

Thomas R. Valletta

The statement that there cannot be any more Bible “is its own refutation. The philosopher argues that there can be no absolutes, not realizing that such a pronouncement constitutes an absolute. The false religionist argues that the Bible contains all revelation, not realizing that since the Bible makes no such a claim for itself, the only way they could know this would be by revelation. Thus men and women find themselves in the awkward position of claiming a revelation to say that there is no revelation. Such is the confusion of which the kingdom of darkness is made” (McConkie and Millet, Doctrinal Commentary, 1:347).
