“The Book of Mormon properly uses the term seraphim, meaning angels in God’s presence; there should be no final s as in the King James Version’s seraphims. Wings symbolize power and motion (D&C 77:4; 109:79). The covering of the face and feet signifies reverence and obeisance toward God. Hebrew saraph means ‘fiery one’ or ‘burning one.’ Those who dwell in the presence of the Lord dwell in ‘everlasting burnings’ or, in other words, in the radiance, brilliance, or glory of that kingdom” (Ogden and Skinner, Book of Mormon, 1:182).
