Jacob urges the Nephites to lift up their heads and not think God has cast them away from him. He reminds them that this land is better than their original land of inheritance in Palestine. They are now on some huge island of the sea and Isaiah said it is located beyond the rivers of Ethiopia or Africa.1 He and Zephaniah even described the American natives as "scattered and peeled,"2 but Zephaniah said they would ultimately repent and bring their great gift to God.3
