In a future day, when the Jewish people as a whole come to believe that Jesus of Nazareth is indeed their long-awaited Messiah, then as a people they are promised a gathering from their long dispersion and a restoration in the flesh to the lands of their inheritance.
To be sure, a preliminary or political gathering of some Jews back to their ancient homeland has occurred already. 28 An even greater gathering of that ancient covenant people yet lies in the future, and “the nations of the Gentiles” will help facilitate it, for the kings and queens of Gentile (that is, non-Jewish) nations will be their “nursing fathers” and “nursing mothers” (see also commentary at 1 Nephi 21:14, 21, 24).
