The Lord will reclaim Israel and deliver her. She is not forgotten, and never has been. It was always the plan to redeem her, and He will act to do so in these last days. It will be the seemingly “forgotten” Israel which will be reformed almost overnight. And the Lord’s power to redeem will be evident as the events unfold:
But I am the Lord thy God, whose waves roared; the Lord of Hosts is my name. And I have put my words in thy mouth, and have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that I may plant the heavens and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion: Behold, thou art my people. Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, which hast drunk at the hand of the Lord the cup of his fury—thou hast drunken the dregs of the cup of trembling wrung out—(2 Nephi 8: 15-17.)
God is the author of this great plan. He has always been the one who controls the “waters of chaos.” He caused the dry land to appear so that man could be formed on the earth. In Noah’s day, when man was in active rebellion against Him, He sent the waters of chaos to remind man He is the creator, and He remains the ultimate power of this earth. This great God, however, is also the one who is so intimate with each of us He can put His words in each of our mouths. Indeed, it is His intention to do so with each of us.
He intends to say to Zion, “Awake” and “Stand up,” so that she returns to consciousness and no longer slumbers. She slumbers because the truth and the ordinances have been lost. She will awaken as these are returned to her. This is happening in our day. We have the ordinances of salvation for the living and the dead restored to us. It is time for Zion to stand on her own again no more slumbering in the depths of apostasy.
