The phrase “that divided the sea” in the KJV, but not in the Book of Mormon, was probably added by some scribe to clarify the phrase that follows “whose waves roared” (v. 15). However the Lord’s control of the waters is not limited to Moses’ dividing the Red Sea. Putting words in the servant’s mouth and covering Israel in his hand (v. 16) is similar to 1 Nephi 21:2 (see note there). That Zion will be recognized as the Lord’s people is also part of the promise of the “new covenant” spoken of in Jeremiah 31:31–33, and commented on above.
