While it is not known what book Lehi read, one commentary suggests: “This heavenly record of doom and destiny which Lehi is given to read may well be the same book as that read by Ezekiel, John the Revelator and others of the prophets. In the book given to Ezekiel he read of ‘lamentations, and mourning, and woe’ (Ezekiel 2:10), which were to come upon the ungodly. … That which Lehi read in the book dealt primarily with the destruction that was to come upon the unrepentant nation of Judah” (McConkie and Millet, Doctrinal Commentary, 1:26–27).
